Turkmenistan demonstrated rapid growth in logistics: 21,320 containers were transported through the country in 2025, an increase of 10,200 units compared to the previous year. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan, according to Turkmenportal.tm.
According to the reported data, transit shipments accounted for the majority of cargo traffic—10,470 containers. Export operations accounted for 6,450 units, while import shipments totaled 4,400 containers.
The significant increase in these figures was the result of active diplomatic efforts to create favorable conditions on key transport arteries. During the reporting period, 74 container trains were dispatched along international corridors. Particular attention was paid to the following routes:
Russia – Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran;
Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey – Europe;
Routes through Uzbekistan.
Utilizing the country's modern logistics capabilities has enabled Turkmenistan to integrate into global supply chains. Container shipping, recognized as the most convenient transportation format, has become a key tool for expanding transit potential along the North-South, East-West, and Lapis Lazuli international corridors.
The nearly doubling of cargo turnover confirms Turkmenistan's status as a key transportation hub in Central Asia, capable of providing efficient connections between regions and continents.
