Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Guvanch Agajanov and CNPC Chairman Dai Houliang held talks in Beijing on March 16, discussing deeper cooperation in the gas sector, according to CNPC's official publication China Petroleum News.
Deputy Prime Minister Agajanov emphasized that gas cooperation with China has evolved far beyond basic commodity trade:
"Gas cooperation with China has long outgrown the format of raw material sales, becoming a 'model' strategic project. The Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline and development of the Amu Darya right bank are today powerful drivers of partnership," the Vice Premier stated.
CNPC Chairman Dai Houliang underscored the enduring nature of bilateral ties:
- Beijing is ready to continue investing in deepening the partnership;
- China intends to effectively leverage Turkmenistan's resources and the vast capacity of its domestic market;
- Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to implementing high-level agreements.

Following the meeting, both sides noted that mutual trust enables Turkmenistan and China to respond confidently to external challenges. The Beijing dialogue sent an important signal to energy markets:
- Both parties intend to maintain current gas production and transportation volumes;
- Plans are underway to enhance the technological level of joint projects;
- The "energy bridge" between Central Asia and China will be further strengthened.
Turkmenistan remains one of China's key natural gas suppliers. The Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline, launched in 2009, continues to be a critical element of China's energy security and a primary source of foreign currency revenue for Turkmenistan's economy.
Experts note that amid global economic uncertainty, the stability of this partnership serves as a factor of regional stability and predictability in global energy markets.
