6th meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee took place in Ashgabat. The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, and the Chinese side was represented by Vice Premier of the State Council of China Ding Xuexiang, Orient.tm reports.
Since the 5th meeting held in November 2021 in an online format, the two countries have jointly implemented agreements made by their leaders, accomplishing many tasks set by the Committee, says participants of the meeting.
The priorities of bilateral cooperation include energy and the transport and logistics sector. Meeting participants were unanimous in the opinion that it is necessary to enhance Turkmen-Chinese partnership in areas such as trade, energy, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, and the creation of a favorable business climate for entrepreneurs from both countries. They also emphasized the need for exchanges in scientific and technological achievements and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties, according to a press release from the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The participants also noted the significant potential for Turkmenistan and China to develop cooperation in the technological sphere and find new opportunities to contribute to the sustainable development of their economies.
Following the negotiations, in addition to the Protocol of the 6th meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China to deepen scientific and technical cooperation. Additionally, an Agreement between the governments of the two countries on international road communication was signed.
