An international conference on cooperation in food security amid climate change took place in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. During the event, an official agreement was signed between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Turkmen agency TDH reportrs.
The conference was attended by high-ranking officials from Turkmenistan’s relevant ministries, FAO Deputy Director-General Viorel Gutu, and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi. Its primary goal was to coordinate regional and global efforts to ensure food security in the context of climate change.
Key topics discussed included the use of modern agricultural technologies, digitization of the agricultural sector, and adaptation to changing climate conditions. Special emphasis was placed on the need for international collaboration to address global food challenges.
The event featured thematic sections focused on improving food security, utilizing climate finance, and sharing best practices for sustainable agricultural development. Turkmenistan, known for being one of the first countries to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its national framework, showcased its active role in global cooperation on environmental and food security issues.
