Turkmenistan and Hungary discussed expanding cooperation in trade and investment

Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Hungary took place in Budapest. The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Hungarian delegation was headed by Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Ádám Stifter.

During the consultations, a wide range of issues aimed at further strengthening Turkmen-Hungarian relations was discussed. The parties exchanged views on key aspects of the international agenda, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

Ways to increase the volume of trade, economic, and investment partnerships, improve the legal framework, and implement joint projects in energy, industry, and pharmaceuticals were considered.

Both sides emphasized their mutual commitment to enhancing ties in education and culture. Political consultations between foreign ministries were highlighted as an important component of the interstate dialogue.

In conclusion, the importance of continuing the dialogue for further diversification of fruitful cooperation in mutual interests was stressed.

On the same day, Gurbanov met with Deputy Head of the FAO Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Raimond Jele. The productive cooperation of Turkmenistan with the FAO and prospective directions of interaction in food security and climate change were noted.

On June 19, Gurbanov held a meeting with Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Sándor Lezsák. The state and prospects of Turkmen-Hungarian partnership were discussed, with a focus on the implementation of agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries in 2023. Views were exchanged on cooperation in the UN and other international organizations. The importance of cultural, educational, and inter-parliamentary ties for the development of friendly relations was emphasized.
