Turkmenistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the Assistant Director-General and Regional Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Beate Andrees, to define key areas of cooperation for 2025, Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported, according to Turkmenportal.tm.
During the negotiations, the participants reviewed the outcomes of their joint work in 2024 under the "Roadmap for Joint Activities for 2024-2025." The Turkmen side proposed organizing trainings and seminars with the participation of ILO experts.
Special attention was given to strengthening Turkmenistan's legal framework through accession to ILO conventions and preparations for upcoming events, including the International Labour Conference.
The parties also discussed joint activities for the current year, which has been designated the International Year of Peace and Trust by a UN General Assembly resolution. The meeting participants emphasized that maintaining peace, stability, and mutual understanding among people has a direct impact on all areas of life.
On the same day, the ILO delegation met with Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, D. Gulmanova, to review social reforms in the country, particularly through the improvement of labor legislation.
