Turkmenistan and Iran discuss development of cooperation in information technology

Negotiations were held in Ashgabat between the Deputy Minister of Communications of Iran, CEO of Infrastructure Communications Company Behzad Akbari, and the Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakiyev, as well as the Chairman of the "Turkmenaragatnashyk" Agency Khadzhimyrat Khudayguliyev, reports Turkmenportal.tm.

During the meeting, the achievements in the development of digital infrastructure in Iran were presented, and opportunities for cooperation were discussed, including expanding traffic transit through the territories of Turkmenistan and Iran, according to Iranian media reports.

It was noted that both countries, due to their unique geographical locations, can play an important role in the development of digital infrastructure in the region.

The parties agreed to work on these issues jointly in a working format. On behalf of Iran's Minister of Communications Seyed Sattar Hashemi, Behzad Akbari invited the heads of Turkmenistan’s communications sector to visit the International Telecommunications Exhibition in Tehran, which will be held from January 3-6.
