In Tehran, negotiations were held between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Iran, and the newly elected President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, reports Ritneurasia.ru.
During the meeting, the parties discussed priority issues for the development of bilateral cooperation in the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as exchanged views on current international and regional issues of mutual interest.
Berdimuhamedov also held talks with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
Following the high-level Turkmen-Iranian negotiations, a ceremony was held for the signing of bilateral documents, including:
– A cooperation plan for 2025-2026 between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries;
– A memorandum of understanding between the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan, and the Port of Amirabad, the Islamic Republic of Iran, regarding sister port relations;
– A memorandum of understanding between the State Concern "Türkmengaz" and the National Iranian Gas Company on the development of cooperation in the field of natural gas;
– A joint program for deepening and expanding cooperation between the customs services of both countries for 2025-2026.
