Turkmenistan and Qatar expand energy ties

The prospects for expanding multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and Qatar in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov with Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha, Orient.tm reports.

The ministers emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral relations, noting that regular high-level meetings give a powerful impetus to Turkmen-Qatari relations, bringing them to a qualitatively new level.

During the conversation, it was especially noted that the key areas for the further development of the Turkmen-Qatari partnership are the energy, investment and transport sectors.

The parties also held an in-depth exchange of views on current issues of regional security, development priorities and the socio-economic situation in Afghanistan.

Special attention was paid to the progress of a major energy project - the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline on Afghan territory. The Qatari side highly appreciated Turkmenistan's efforts and expressed readiness for further cooperation in this strategically important area.

The interlocutors noted the constructive interaction of the two countries within the framework of international organizations. In this context, the Turkmen side informed about the holding of a representative Forum in Ashgabat on December 12, 2025, within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, and invited Qatar to participate in this high-level event.
