The volume of trade between Turkmenistan and Russia in the first six months of 2024 increased by 73.5% compared to the same period in 2023, TASS reports, citing the words of Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach.

"While last year the mutual trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan in physical terms increased by 13%, this year in monetary terms we have grown by 73.5% in just half a year," Volvach stated.

The Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia reported that the total trade volume between the two countries since the beginning of the year has already reached $700 million. He pointed out that both exports and imports of goods are growing. Volvach emphasized the content of the commodity nomenclature. According to him, the range of goods is becoming more complex, with an increasing role of high-value-added products.

The official noted that the development of trade began after the first Russian-Turkmen business forum, which took place in January 2023 during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"In turn, Russia is ready to continue increasing the volume of non-resource exports, highly complex products, chemical, engineering, pipeline, and oil and gas equipment. Here, we also see unrealized export potential for Russia to Turkmenistan of more than $200 million, so we still have a lot of work ahead," Volvach concluded.
