Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are strategic partners, as evidenced by the joint implementation of 27 projects between the country's government and the organization. This position was articulated during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, Deputy Administrator of UNDP, and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, Ivana Zubac, Turkmenportal.tm reports.

The discussions covered the prospects of cooperation in the digitalization sphere and providing support to Turkmenistan in joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). Special attention was noted for collaboration in the healthcare sector, with two new projects recently signed in this field.

Meredov briefed on documents and climate change initiatives to which Turkmenistan has joined at COP-28, including proposals from President Serdar Berdymukhamedov. In this regard, the Turkmen side proposed to the UNDP leadership to explore opportunities for joint implementation of these initiatives.
