The head of the UNICEF office in Turkmenistan, Jalpa Ratna, presented her credentials from the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

President Berdimuhamedov congratulated Jalpa Ratna on her appointment and noted that active cooperation with reputable international organizations, especially with the United Nations and its specialized agencies, is one of the main directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.

"In this regard, the consistent and highly effective nature of the established relations between Turkmenistan and UNICEF is particularly noted. As is known, our country was unanimously elected a member of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2024–2026, which stands as evidence of the effectiveness of the long-term interaction between the country and the Children's Fund," the central newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reported.

Currently, the partnership is carried out within the framework of UNICEF's country program for Turkmenistan for 2021–2025. This year, ten documents were signed with the country's ministries and departments, including a work plan in the areas of child health, nutrition, early development, social security, and inclusive education.

During the meeting between Berdimuhamedov and the UNICEF representative, it was noted that the legislative framework for child protection is constantly being improved in Turkmenistan. For instance, the National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children's Rights for 2023–2028 has been approved.

The importance of close cooperation in the procurement of vaccines and equipment for child immunization was particularly emphasized. The significant role of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund in providing assistance to children in need of care was highlighted, through which many operations have been conducted in medical centers for young patients, and ambulances and modern medical equipment are regularly donated to regional, district, and city hospitals.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in continuing the comprehensive partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund, wishing the head of the Ashgabat UNICEF office, Jalpa Ratna, success in her work.
