Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiev and US Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance with Agreements Mallory Stewart discussed by phone possible ways of cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, Turkmenportal.tm reports.
The parties paid special attention to the process of implementing the 2011 Vienna Document on confidence- and security-building measures. In particular, the parties noted the importance of intensifying the dialogue on the implementation of the Treaty through holding bilateral meetings, strengthening the potential of specialists through specialized seminars and trainings.
The parties also discussed means to strengthen confidence-building measures for arms control and the implementation of international obligations in this area, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
