Turkmenistan's agricultural producers have harvested and delivered over 1.4 million tons of grain to the state granaries, announced Vice Prime Minister Tangryguly Atahallyev during a Cabinet meeting, Hronika.tm reports.
Following the grain harvesting completion and meeting the procurement plan, a ceremony was held after the Cabinet meeting where reports were presented to the President of the country by regional heads.
Earlier, farmers from Lebap province reported that wheat had lodged on many fields in the region due to heavy spring rains.
It is known that no information was provided in 2023 about the results of wheat harvesting, which may indicate that the plan was not fulfilled. This year, Kazakhstan sharply increased its wheat exports to Turkmenistan by 76.5% compared to the previous year.
In 2022, it was reported that 1.5 million tons of grain were harvested.
In 2020, the grain harvest target was reduced from 1.6 to 1.4 million tons.
