Turkmenistan attracted $1.38 billion from IDB for 30 projects

ASHGABAT - The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group has approved financing for projects in Turkmenistan totaling $1.38 billion. The funds are allocated for the implementation of 30 projects in various sectors of the country’s economy, Orient.tm reports.

The amount of support was announced following a meeting between the Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rahimberdi Dzhepbarov, and the President of the IsDB Group, Muhammad Al-Jasser. The negotiations took place in Baku as part of the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the further development of cooperation, paying special attention to the issues of transport integration, expanding trade finance and supporting long-term priorities of the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan. In particular, they discussed the development of regional logistics routes and increasing the interconnectedness of transport infrastructure, as well as mechanisms for facilitating export-import operations.

The interlocutors also discussed the prospects for the participation of the Islamic Development Bank in financing strategic projects aimed at sustainable economic growth of the country.

The annual meeting of the IsDB Group in Baku is one of the key international platforms for discussing issues of sustainable development, attracting investments and expanding regional cooperation with the participation of representatives of the bank’s member states, international financial organizations and business circles.
