Turkmenistan brought trade with Uzbekistan to $1 bln

Since the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement in 2017, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has grown fivefold. By the end of 2022, the volume of mutual trade approached the $1 billion mark. This information was reported by Akmaljon Kuchkarov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, Orient.tm reports.

The head of Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission also highlighted that since the signing of the agreement, processes of interregional cooperation have been initiated, and mechanisms for joint work within the Business Council of Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have been established.

Ambassador Kuchkarov also emphasized the significant importance of the Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership signed in October 2022, which is expected to have a substantial impact on the expansion of trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian relations between the two countries.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has significantly increased its imports of Turkmen natural gas. From January to November 2022, Turkmenistan exported natural gas to Uzbekistan worth $1.03 billion, as reported by "Turkmengaz."
