Turkmenistan committed to expanding trade and economic cooperation with Iran - Berdimuhamedov Sr.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the portal Newscentralasia.net reports.

During the meeting, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry noted Berdimuhamedov's significant contribution to strengthening the interstate dialogue between Iran and Turkmenistan.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, emphasized the importance of enhancing partnership in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as within the framework of major international organizations.

He thanked the Iranian side for co-authoring the Resolution "2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust," adopted by the United Nations General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan.

Iran occupies an important place in Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover, Berdimuhamedov noted.

In this context, the intention of the parties to strengthen effective cooperation in such sectors as energy, transport and communications, construction, and agriculture was expressed.

Emphasizing the importance of visits by government delegations of the two countries at various levels and the exchange of views on bilateral and multilateral relations, Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership with Iran.

Touching upon cooperation in the fields of science, education, culture, arts, and sports, he expressed hope that the Iranian side would participate in the celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
