A Turkmenistan delegation led by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chair of the National Center of Trade Unions, held a series of working meetings with the leadership of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Turkmenportal.com reports.
During the visit, negotiations took place with Assistant Director-General and ILO Regional Director Beata Andres, the newly appointed head of the Workers’ Bureau Oliver Röpke, Director of the Department of International Labour Standards Corinne Vargha, and other senior officials of the organization.
The main topics of discussion included strengthening the partnership, implementing the joint action plan, promoting decent work, enhancing social dialogue, and modernizing labor legislation.
It was noted that Turkmenistan became the first country visited by Oliver Röpke after his appointment as Director of the ILO Workers’ Bureau.
ILO technical experts also conducted consultations on the ratification and implementation of international labor standards. Representatives of the organization positively assessed Turkmenistan’s efforts in protecting labor rights, combating forced and child labor, and improving workplace safety. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation.
