The importance of strengthening the mechanism of the updated Action Plan for the implementation of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia and continuing the efforts of the states of the region within the framework of the Dushanbe process was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiev, speaking at the events of the High-Level Counter-Terrorism Week at the UN, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
Khadzhiev stressed that Turkmenistan continues to implement the National Strategy and Action Plan to prevent violent extremism and counter terrorism.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan also held bilateral meetings with UN Deputy Secretary General Vladimir Voronkov and Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Natalia Gherman.
Khadzhiev and Voronkov discussed issues of developing a multilateral partnership aimed at creating effective mechanisms to ensure the effective fulfillment of obligations in the field of combating international terrorism and extremism. The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the Regional Action Plan for Central Asia for the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
Vepa Khadzhiev told Natalia Gherman about the efforts made by the republic in the fight against terrorism and the promotion of regional stability. In addition, the Turkmen diplomat confirmed the readiness of the country to continue close cooperation with the UN and its partners to solve urgent transnational problems. The parties also considered the possibility of organizing a visit of the mission of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee to Turkmenistan in 2024.
