Turkmenistan ensured the supply of natural gas to China through pipelines in January-October 2022 in the amount of $8.23 billion, which is 53% more than in the same period last year, the General Administration of Customs of China said, TASS reported.
This means that Turkmenistan remains the main exporter of pipeline gas to China. The second major supplier of pipeline gas to China is Russia, whose volume of supplies amounted to $3.1 billion, which is 182% more than in the same period in 2021.
Other major pipeline gas suppliers to China are Myanmar ($1.13 billion), Kazakhstan ($996.5 million) and Uzbekistan ($916.7 million).
Currently, Turkmenistan exports natural gas to China through three pipelines running along the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China route. The capacity is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The main share of deliveries falls on Turkmenistan, the rest - on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
In February of this year, an agreement was reached on the construction of the fourth line of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China. It is expected that its commissioning will allow Turkmenistan to increase annual gas supplies to China to 65 billion cubic meters.
In 2022, Turkmenistan exported about 34 billion cubic meters of blue fuel to China.
