Turkmenistan will soon be able to breed silkworm cocoons all year round, according to Orient.tm
Specialists of the Center of Technology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan were able for the first time in history to harvest silkworm cocoons in the summer thanks to the determination of the optimal temperature and humidity in the wormhole. The experiment took place in laboratory conditions.
The head of the Department of Biotechnology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Bezergen Khallyev, noted that the recent perm in the vivarium, that is, the origin of cocoons, which happened on June 28, became a real sensation for employees, Orient reports.
Thanks to the definition and fixation of recommendations for growing cocoons, Turkmenistan will be able to increase silk production many times over, Khallyev said. The thing is that earlier in Turkmenistan they harvested cocoons only in the spring, when the air temperature was less than +30 degrees and the caterpillars ate food. Creating the right conditions helped the caterpillars to curl once more. This means that the country will be able to harvest valuable cocoons for several seasons a year.
Moreover, the employees are preparing to provide curling in the fall, and the experiment to obtain cocoons in winter will also be unique. They also said that entrepreneurs are already ready to receive appropriate recommendations for growing caterpillars in air-conditioned premises for year-round harvesting.
