Turkmenistan increased the volume of natural gas sales to Azerbaijan through swaps by 2.4% in the first two months of 2024. The volume in January and February amounted to 208.87 million cubic meters, with a value of $31.33 million, Ritmeurasia reports.
Meanwhile, the price of imported natural gas has risen: if at the beginning of 2023 Azerbaijan paid $140 for every thousand cubic meters of gas from Central Asian countries, this year prices were raised to $150.
Turkmen gas supplies to Azerbaijan are carried out through swaps via Iran. According to a trilateral agreement signed on November 28, 2021, in Ashgabat, it is planned to increase Turkmen gas deliveries to 2 billion cubic meters per year with subsequent increases to 3-4 billion cubic meters.
