The positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation was reaffirmed during the meeting between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Bishkek, Nury Golliev, and the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Taalaibek Ibraev, Orient reports.

Both sides expressed a keen interest in further deepening partnership in the energy and trade sectors between the two countries and exchanged views on prospective projects in the oil and gas sector.

Minister Ibraev expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for sending humanitarian aid in the form of tankers with liquefied gas in February this year due to the accident at the Bishkek CHP.

Attention was also paid to the discussion of common issues within the framework of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Humanitarian Cooperation.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz Ambassador to Ashgabat, Azizbek Madmarov, noted successful cooperation in the energy sector. Turkmenistan supplies electricity, automotive gasoline, and aviation kerosene to Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan exports electrical goods such as incandescent lamps, diodes, and semiconductors to Turkmenistan.

The trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan is growing, and according to Ambassador Golliev, a sum of around $100 million is expected for the year 2023. However, there is still considerable untapped potential, as evidenced by the fact that last year, the embassy issued a significant number of business visas to Turkmen citizens for visiting Kyrgyzstan.
