Turkmenistan increases transit of goods along North-South corridor to 17 trains per month

The number of regular container trains on the eastern branch of the North-South corridor (Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran) will be increased to 17 trains per month, TASS reports. The agency refers to the trade representative of Russia in Turkmenistan Alexander Elizarov.

“We met the first train from the 31st container from the territory of Russian Railways JSC and RZD Logistics in Serakhs (Turkmenistan) on the border with Iran in early November of this year. The task is set and it will be done - in the order of 17 trains per month based on the series. Now another composition of the constitution in December. But next year we will begin to realize the potential of 17 trains a month,” Elizarov said.

In addition, it was increased that at present Russian shippers have already requested a large volume of cargo from the Turkmen side through the territory of the country, considering that the transit potential of Turkmenistan is huge.
