Turkmenistan Initiated Azerbaijan’s Inclusion in Central Asian Consultative Format

The President of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, sent a congratulatory letter to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s full membership in the Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State. The letter was published on November 19 on the website of the President of Azerbaijan, reports Orient.tm.

Berdimuhamedov highlighted the historic significance of this development, noting that it strengthens the unity of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, creating a new geopolitical and geo-economic space based on brotherhood, good-neighborliness, and cooperation. According to him, the decision reflects the strategic development trajectory of the countries in the region and addresses their pressing interests.

The letter emphasized the key role of Central Asia and Azerbaijan in the global economy and transcontinental connectivity. Azerbaijan’s participation reinforces the political and legal framework for joint development and strengthens a platform for trust, consensus, and mutually beneficial partnership.

The National Leader recalled that the initiative to include Azerbaijan originated from Turkmenistan during the Third UN Conference for Landlocked Developing Countries held in the Avaza National Tourism Zone and was fully supported by Central Asian states at the 7th meeting in Tashkent.

Berdimuhamedov stressed that Azerbaijan’s membership, given its political and economic potential, will be a decisive factor in comprehensive regional integration and enhance the countries’ influence on the international stage. He concluded by inviting Ilham Aliyev to the 8th Consultative Meeting and wished the President health and the people of Azerbaijan peace, prosperity, and well-being.
