The Parliament of Turkmenistan is developing a corresponding draft law "On Energy Conservation and Efficient Energy Use," Eurasiatoday.ru reports.

"The document aims to create legal, economic, and organizational foundations for stimulating energy conservation and increasing energy efficiency," said Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister Baymyrat Annamammedov.

These measures will help strengthen the country's export potential in the field of electric power generation amid growing domestic demand.

Currently, Turkmenistan exports electricity to neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Ashgabat also plans to expand its supply to the Caucasus and South Asia.

At the same time, Turkmenistan aims to increase its domestic electricity production, which is entirely based on gas, from 28.4 billion kWh in 2021 to 37.5 billion kWh by 2028.
