Turkmenistan has begun the practical implementation of a large-scale program to develop the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TCTC), cementing its status as a key logistics link between Central Asia and Europe. A series of high-level meetings and the signing of strategic documents took place in Ashgabat at the end of March 2026, Orient.tm reports.

Trade Minister Nazar Agakhanov and GIZ Coordinator Joachim Fritz signed a Protocol amending the Memorandum of Understanding, officially launching the TCTC Capacity Development Program in Turkmenistan until 2029. The initiative, supported by the EU, Germany, and France, is being implemented by GIZ jointly with Expertise France and aims to create a predictable and high-tech corridor.

The TFCA project has summarized its 2024–2025 results: an Interagency Working Group on Trade Facilitation has been established, which will serve as a "single window" to expedite transactions and reduce administrative barriers.

From March 24 to 27, a delegation of experts led by Asel Uzagalieva held meetings with representatives of the agricultural and transport sectors, focusing on the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. Steps to digitalize and increase the port's throughput capacity were discussed.

By 2029, priorities will be the implementation of international standards and human resource development, enabling Turkmenistan to become a full-fledged value-added hub on the 21st-century Silk Road.
