Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has proposed launching a partnership among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in the field of shipbuilding, the state news agency TDH reported.

“Regarding maritime transportation, we believe it would be appropriate to initiate cooperation in shipbuilding. Many SCO countries possess significant industrial capacity and extensive experience in this sector. Turkmenistan is also actively developing its national shipbuilding industry, and I believe that a partnership in this field could yield substantial mutual benefits,” the President stated.

The SCO summit was held in Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1, 2025, bringing together over 20 leaders and representatives of international organizations. President Berdimuhamedov participated in the SCO+ format of the summit.
