Turkmenistan put forward new initiatives at World government summit in Dubai

Turkmenistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, outlined a series of initiatives in the field of transport and energy security during the World Government Summit 2024 (WGS 2024) in Dubai, Turkmenportal.tm reports.

Specifically, the following proposals were put forward:

  • Creation of a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity,
  • Alliance for Cooperation in Global Energy Security and Sustainable Development,
  • Global Framework Program for the Transition to a Circular Economy.

These initiatives aim to contribute to addressing priority issues in the transportation and energy sectors based on the Sustainable Development Agenda for the period up to 2030.

The head of the Turkmen delegation reminded that, at Turkmenistan's initiative, the UN General Assembly has already adopted six resolutions on sustainable transport. The proposals presented in Dubai continue the country's commitment to actively participate in solving global challenges as a responsible member of the international community.
