Turkmenistan has taken a new step towards simplifying international freight transportation. Now, "green corridors" for trucks using the international road transport (MRT) system or TIR-EPD are fully operational.
This means that drivers will no longer have to wait in long lines at the border but can undergo customs control through special lanes, reports Asmannews.ru.
The Belarusian Association of International Road Carriers (BAMAP) reported that separate windows and lanes have been created at Turkmenistan's border checkpoints for trucks with TIR-EPD.
However, to speed up the procedure, carriers must notify customs authorities of their arrival in advance through a special information system linked to the international customs system.
