The Chinese engineering company Sichuan Petroleum & Natural Gas Construction Engineering has imported specialized anti-corrosion materials for a major gas pipeline project in Turkmenistan, Orient.tm reports.
Turkmenistan has received 2,000 polyethylene heat-shrinkable sleeves and 3,000 meters of anti-corrosion tape from Langfang Zhongyou Jiayu Anti-Corrosion Technology. The materials are designed to protect pipe joints and increase the durability of gas transportation infrastructure.
This delivery is significant given the extensive energy cooperation between Turkmenistan and China. China remains the largest export destination for Turkmen natural gas, and the Central Asia-China gas pipeline system plays a key role in ensuring Turkmen gas supplies to the Chinese market. Therefore, the reliability of each element of this infrastructure is directly linked to the sustainability of the long-term energy partnership between the two countries.
The use of modern insulation technologies is particularly important for Turkmenistan due to its challenging climate and the long distances involved in gas transportation. Protecting pipelines from corrosion reduces operational risks and helps maintain supply stability.
More broadly, this project demonstrates that Turkmen-Chinese cooperation is developing not only through gas supplies but also through the joint development of technological and service infrastructure. For Ashgabat, this is an opportunity to increase the reliability of the export system, and for Beijing, to strengthen the stability of one of the most important sources of long-term natural gas supplies.
