Turkmenistan to develop roadmap for cooperation with US

The roadmap for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States for 2023-2024 was presented to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The state newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports that the plan was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov at a working meeting with members of the government of the country with the participation of Berdimuhamedov.

The roadmap was developed following the working visit of the Turkmen delegation led by Meredov to the United States, which took place on April 23-24, 2023. It was created to intensify the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States. The head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan also presented proposals on strengthening the legal framework of relations and preparing a framework plan for organizing visits at various levels. Berdimuhamedov approved the proposals, noting that the Turkmen-American cooperation is developing dynamically both in bilateral and multilateral formats. The President of Turkmenistan instructed to continue work to strengthen the existing solid potential in the partnership of the two states, the main publication of Turkmenistan emphasizes.

At the meeting, Meredov spoke about the negotiations with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during which the parties noted that it is necessary to intensify cooperation. At the same time, it was said that advanced digital technologies and innovative approaches should become the main focus. The interlocutors named issues of environmental protection as one of the priorities of bilateral cooperation, the newspaper writes.

The participants of the meeting were also informed, the members of the Turkmen delegation met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt. At the meeting, they discussed the implementation of major projects involving leading American businesses. Particular attention was paid, the newspaper notes, to the supply of Turkmen energy resources to world markets, in particular in the European direction. At the same time, the interlocutors stressed the importance of the consistent implementation of large-scale projects of regional and international significance, including the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line.
