Turkmenistan is preparing to integrate into the electronic permit system developed for the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). This was announced by OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev at the 10th meeting of the heads of customs services of the organization’s member states, Orient.tm reports.
In his speech, Omuraliev emphasized the importance of simplifying customs and transit procedures in the face of global challenges, such as rising transportation costs and complex document checks. According to him, implementing such initiatives is a key step toward strengthening economic resilience and regional development. The electronic permit system aligns with the OTS strategic document, “Turkic World Vision 2040”, which aims to facilitate trade and improve transport connections between member states.
The OTS Secretary General highlighted the successful implementation of the TIR electronic system between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in cooperation with UNICEF in 2022.
“Turkmenistan is preparing to join this initiative, which will be a significant step toward deepening regional integration and strengthening ties among Turkic states,” Omuraliev stated. He also recalled other OTS initiatives, such as the creation of the Union of International Road Transport Associations, called "YURTA", as well as the Alliance of Logistics Centers and Freight Carriers of Turkic States, which contribute to coordination and cooperation in international transport.
Turkmenistan's integration into the electronic permit system will not only speed up transit procedures but also open new opportunities for cooperation within the OTS.
