Turkmenistan to sign new gas supply agreement with Uzbekistan

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will enter into a new agreement on gas supplies. Negotiations on this matter were conducted by the Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy Complex Affairs of Turkmenistan, Batyr Amanov, and the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Orient.tm reports.

During the negotiations, the parties emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, which is one of the key areas of Turkmen-Uzbek partnership, according to the newspaper "Turkmenistan."

The parties also discussed measures aimed at the comprehensive implementation of previously reached agreements, particularly in the energy sector. In this context, representatives of the executive authorities of both states highlighted the importance of the recent Ashgabat Summit involving Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The main topic of negotiations between government representatives of the two countries was resolving the issue of bringing Turkmen hydrocarbons to the global market, especially to the markets of neighboring countries. The parties emphasized the substantial potential for increasing the volumes of natural resource exports.

The Uzbek delegation, led by Mirzamakhmudov, also held negotiations with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Turkmen government responsible for construction and industrial complexes. Key aspects of implementing major projects were discussed with him. In this context, the parties agreed on the importance of constructing new energy corridors between the countries.
