At the Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on June 4, the Government of Turkmenistan summed up the country’s socio-economic performance for January–May 2025. According to Deputy Prime Ministers Khojamyrat Geldimyradov and Batyr Amanov, key macroeconomic and sectoral indicators show a steady positive trend, Orient.tm reports.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Khojamyrat Geldimyradov stated that Turkmenistan’s GDP grew by 6.3% during the first five months of the year. The most significant growth was recorded in the transport and communications sector (+10.8%), trade (+9.9%), and services (+8.6%).
Positive dynamics were also observed in other sectors: construction grew by 4.7%, agriculture by 4%, and industrial production by 0.8%.
The total volume of industrial output increased by 9.7% compared to the same period last year. Retail trade rose by 12.5%, and foreign trade turnover grew by 5.4%.
Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Amanov noted that the energy sector has exceeded its production targets. The state concern Turkmennebit achieved 109% of its crude oil production target and 108% in oil refining.
Fuel production remains on a steady growth path: gasoline output reached 102.8% of the plan, diesel fuel - 101.2%, and lubricating oils - 121.1%. Liquefied gas production reached 102.2%, while natural and associated gas extraction hit 102.5% of the target.
According to government officials, this positive dynamic is the result of coordinated efforts across all sectors of the economy, targeted support measures for key industries, and the successful implementation of national programs.
