In the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, discussions were held on attracting capital from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) to continue the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) in Tajikistan, Khovar reports, citing the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the negotiations, the Chairman of the Committee, Sulton Rahimzoda, highlighted Tajikistan's significant energy potential, particularly in renewable energy sources, emphasizing the importance of the Rogun HPP as a key project for the country.
He expressed hope that ADFD would participate in financing the continuation of the HPP’s construction and other major infrastructure projects in Tajikistan.
Muhammad Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, noted the positive development of bilateral cooperation and confirmed the fund’s willingness to consider investment opportunities in Tajikistan's key economic sectors, including energy.
According to him, ADFD has extensive experience in financing infrastructure projects worldwide and intends to expand cooperation with Tajikistan.
The Rogun HPP, located on the Vakhsh River, is set to become the largest hydroelectric power plant in Central Asia, with a capacity of 3,600 megawatts upon completion. This will not only meet Tajikistan’s electricity needs but also create opportunities for exporting electricity to neighboring countries.
The negotiations in Abu Dhabi are of great significance for strengthening economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates and represent an important step in attracting foreign investment for strategic projects such as the construction of the Rogun HPP.
