The United Arab Emirates intends to double its trade turnover with Turkmenistan in the coming years. This was stated by the UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ahmed Al-Hameli, in an article published in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan on the occasion of the national holiday—the Day of State Proclamation, Turkmenportal.com reports.
“The volume of trade between the two countries reached $1.759 billion in 2024 (non-oil trade), representing a 75% increase compared to 2023. The UAE aims to double this figure in the coming years,” the diplomat noted.
According to him, the UAE ranked third among Turkmenistan’s trading partners during the first nine months of 2025. The ambassador emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector, highlighting ADNOC’s entry into the Turkmen market.
He recalled that in May 2024 a production-sharing contract was signed for the development of gas fields in Block No. 1 of the Caspian Sea between XRG (ADNOC’s investment division), Petronas, and Turkmenistan’s state enterprises. A long-term gas sale agreement was also concluded.
