President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov, received the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Kaha Imnadze, Orient.tm reports.
The UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy was established in Ashgabat based on a decision of the UN General Assembly with the support of neighboring countries and members of the Security Council. Over its more than 15 years of existence, the Centre has proven itself as an effective platform connecting the UN system with the Central Asian countries in the search for solutions to pressing issues and problems.
The diplomat conveyed greetings from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the President of Turkmenistan and acknowledged the country's active role in interacting with the UN in both regional and global dimensions.
Neutral Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to strengthening peace, creating an atmosphere of understanding and trust in the region and the world. The diplomat assured that Turkmenistan will continue to fully contribute to the enhancement of fruitful cooperation, emphasized the UN representative Imnadze.
Strengthening and expanding the dialogue with the UN is one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. The country puts forward important initiatives for cooperation in various fields, President Berdymukhamedov noted in his response.
