According to the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, Uzbekistan’s unemployment rate for the third quarter of 2025 stood at 4.9%, down 0.8 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024, reports Daryo.uz.
The country’s total population reached 37.8 million, with 20.35 million classified as part of the labor force (+1.9%). The economically active population totaled 15.57 million, while the employed population reached 14.81 million (+4.1%).
Employment in the formal sector rose by 17% to 8.58 million, whereas the number of workers in the informal sector declined to 4.38 million (-26.9%). The number of citizens working abroad increased to 1.86 million, 512,000 more than in Q3 2024.
Across the country, about 760,000 citizens registered with employment services as job seekers. In 2025, 4.45 million people were provided with gainful employment, including 1.29 million in agriculture, 2.74 million in services, 172,300 in construction, and 256,200 through investment projects.
In Q2 2025, Uzbekistan’s unemployment rate was 5.1%, placing the country third among CIS states in this regard.
