A high-level expert mission of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) positively assessed the preparation and conduct of a complete population and housing census in Turkmenistan in 2022, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes following a briefing by experts for the media.
Data collection work is proceeding in an organized and planned manner. The mission visited three urban and rural census tracts, where they got acquainted with the technical details and methods of conducting the census, the head of the team, Srdjan Mrkic, head of the Demographic Statistics Division of the UN Statistics Office, said at a briefing.
The mission especially noted the digital format of the census, using modern equipment and software, which should ensure high quality and reliability of the final data.
During the visit, the experts conducted a training for journalists of Turkmenistan on covering the population and housing census.
