United States again expressed support for Uzbekistan's accession to WTO

The third session of the Dialogue on Strategic Partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States was held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Gairat Fozilov and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu. Following the event, the parties made a joint statement, Kursiv-Uzbekistan reports.

The delegations discussed the partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States in political, economic, humanitarian and cultural areas, as well as in the field of security. The United States has expressed its unwavering position on the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan.

Washington also confirmed its support for Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization. The parties discussed the regional agenda, including humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and strengthening cooperation in the C5+1 format.

Participants decided to continue to increase trade and investment, advance agricultural reforms in Uzbekistan, expand women's economic opportunities, and work together to combat the climate crisis.

The delegations agreed to strengthen security cooperation between defense, law enforcement, border and customs authorities.

The next strategic partnership dialogue between the United States and Uzbekistan is planned to be held in Washington in 2024.

Earlier, the United States and the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted an Agreement on the introduction of restrictions on the import of archaeological and ethnological materials from Uzbekistan.
