US Assistant Secretary of State to visit Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu will visit Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He will discuss strengthening relations, security and freedom of speech with the authorities of these countries, RT reports.

"In Bishkek, Assistant Secretary Lu will meet with senior Kyrgyz government officials to further advance bilateral and regional goals," the US State Department said.

In Dushanbe, he intends to focus on deepening the US-Tajik partnership and discussing security issues and a "strong civil society."

Earlier, the US Treasury Department said that representatives of the department will discuss with European countries, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan the observance of anti-Russian sanctions, including the suppression of ways to bypass them.
