Uzbek Foreign Minister held talks with OSCE Secretary General

Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held talks with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Helga Schmid.

At the meeting, the parties considered a wide range of issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, UzA reports.

In recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and the Organization have significantly intensified and reached a qualitatively new level, the agency writes.

The parties also discussed the implementation of the Plan of Practical Measures (Roadmap) adopted in April 2021 for the implementation of OSCE projects in Uzbekistan for 2021-2022.

V. Norov informed the OSCE delegation in detail about the regional policy of Uzbekistan, the main goal of which is to turn Central Asia into a region of security, stability and sustainable development, its integration into global economic and transport ties.

In turn, H. Schmid highly appreciated the efforts of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create favorable conditions for the development of cooperation and good neighborliness in the region.

Special attention was paid to the intensification of cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, in particular, to strengthen the response to security risks associated with climate change, natural resource management, and the elimination of the ecological catastrophe of the Aral Sea.

The parties also exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
