The total number of Uzbek migrants abroad is more than 2.3 million people. Of these, about 1.5 million work in the Russian Federation, according to the Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan.
About 200,000 labor migrants from Uzbekistan are unofficially employed in Russia. The agency clarified that the status of official employment in all countries has increased by almost 90%, the agency reports.
At the end of the first quarter of this year, the number of Uzbek labor migrants in non-CIS countries amounted to 2 million 346 thousand people. After the publication of this number, 400,000 citizens returned to the country, the report said.
