The lawyers of the oligarch with Uzbek roots Alisher Usmanov will file a lawsuit with the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany to challenge the EU sanctions, the German publication Suddeutsche Zeitung reports. In Germany, Usmanov is suspected of tax evasion and money laundering,
Earlier, Usmanov's representatives commented on reports of searches at villas and facilities in Germany, allegedly belonging to the Russian billionaire.
According to the data, the lawyers of the Russian businessman with Uzbek roots plan to challenge the EU decision and prove that they run counter to the German constitution.
The document prepared for filing the lawsuit alleges that the EU is adding to its sanctions list people who are not responsible for the conflict in Ukraine, which is "incompatible with human dignity" and violates "German constitutional identity."
The document also defends those whom the EU erroneously held responsible for the events in Ukraine and included in the sanctions lists.
These people, as the conclusion says, are hostages of foreign policy. They are treated as mere means of pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin, the report said.
Earlier, Alisher Usmanov spoke about the war in Ukraine. He transfers all the main business assets to Uzbekistan.
He recently announced that he is retiring from active business in connection with his retirement and is ready to help Uzbekistan.
