Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the International Forum in Ashgabat, marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the International Day of Neutrality, and the designation of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
In his address, Mirziyoyev congratulated Turkmenistan on the neutrality anniversary and emphasized that this status reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to peaceful, trustworthy, and mutually beneficial relations with all countries, according to Daryo.uz.
The President expressed support for Turkmenistan’s initiative to establish, in partnership with the UN, a University of Peace and Neutrality aimed at promoting a global culture of peace.
Mirziyoyev highlighted that openness to the world, mutual respect, and dialogue are key values of the New Uzbekistan. He cited the Samarkand Solidarity Initiative as an example, which engages all interested parties in promoting peace, harmony, and sustainable development.
He also outlined the main priorities for Uzbekistan’s upcoming chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement: advancing a global culture of peace and nonviolence, strengthening trust among states, and fostering tolerance and mutual understanding. Within this framework, 2027 will be declared the Year of Preventive Diplomacy, featuring conferences, forums, and exchanges of delegations.
The President stressed the importance of maintaining universal adherence to principles of peace and mediation amid global tensions and declining trust between countries. He noted Turkmenistan’s vital role in regional stability and development, emphasizing the significance of its international initiatives aimed at building trust and cooperation.
Among Uzbekistan’s proposals are organizing an international humanitarian forum, “Dialogue of Cultures,” in Tashkent and launching a regional program, “Youth for Peace and Trust.” In conclusion, Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to contributing constructively to building a just and stable regional and global order in Central Asia.
