They discussed the further expansion of Uzbekistan's multifaceted cooperation with this specialized UN institution.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of agreements and initiatives put forward at the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, held in Samarkand in October 2023. High praise was given to the UN General Assembly's adoption of the resolution initiated by Uzbekistan to declare 2027 as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism.
It was noted with deep satisfaction that the organization is a strategic partner of Uzbekistan in developing modern tourism infrastructure and promoting Uzbekistan as a tourist destination.
The importance of continuing joint efforts to implement programs and projects aimed at creating comfortable conditions and facilities for tourists, developing pilgrimage and cultural-cognitive tourism, including domestic tourism, was highlighted.
Special attention was given to the training of qualified personnel in the hospitality and service sector, with effective use of the International Tourism Academy in Samarkand.
To popularize Uzbekistan as a tourist destination, practical cooperation will be expanded to support the participation of domestic tour operators in major international tourism fairs and exhibitions.
