Uzbekistan stopped the export of natural gas and increased the import of blue fuel due to the growth of domestic consumption in the coming cold weather, Deputy Energy Minister of Uzbekistan Sherzod Khodjaev said, RIA Novosti reported.
“As of today, gas exports have practically ceased,” Khodjaev said during an online briefing.
According to the Uzbek Deputy Minister, the daily export of blue fuel from the republic has decreased from 10 million cubic meters to 1 million cubic meters due to an increase in domestic consumption in the cold weather.
At the same time, Khodzhaev said that gas imports increased by 20%. The Deputy Minister did not name the physical volumes of purchased fuel and supplier countries.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan predicted the volume of gas exports in 2022 at the level of 3.3 billion cubic meters. The main deliveries are made to China, as well as to the neighboring countries of Central Asia.
