Uzbekistan and Afghanistan sign documents for $2.5 bln

Afghanistan and Uzbekistan signed 35 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth $2.5 billion, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reports.

The signing of the documents took place with the participation of Abdul Ghani Baradar, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, and Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, along with government officials and representatives from the private sector of both countries, reports Kun.uz.

Among them, 12 MoUs were investment agreements worth $1.4 billion, and 23 were trade agreements worth $1.1 billion.

It was previously reported that on August 17, the head of the Uzbek government, Abdulla Aripov, and the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, arrived in Kabul.

According to Afghan media, they participated in an exhibition of Uzbek goods in Kabul. During the visit, discussions on the establishment of chambers of commerce for the two countries in Kabul and Tashkent were also planned.
