The company "Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat" (DABS), responsible for Afghanistan's energy supply, and "Uzbekistan National Electric Networks" have signed a new agreement for electricity supplies for 2025.

According to the Afghan company's press service, this agreement is an important step in strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries.

Export of Electricity from Uzbekistan

According to the Agency of Statistics under the President of Uzbekistan, the country's electricity exports have shown steady growth.

From January to October 2024, export volumes reached $81.7 million, an increase of 62.4% compared to the same period last year.

This figure reflects the high demand for Uzbek electricity on the international market.

Earlier, in May 2024, it was reported that Afghanistan paid Uzbekistan $86.9 million for electricity supplies. This underscores the stable demand for Uzbek electricity and the importance of Uzbekistan as a reliable energy partner for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has also settled its two-year debt for electricity supplies to Uzbekistan. Debts totaling $627 million to Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have been cleared.

Long-term energy partnerships contribute to strengthening economic ties and ensuring stable energy supplies in Afghanistan.

The signed agreement opens new prospects for further cooperation, including expanding supply volumes and developing joint energy projects.
